Is Yoga Right for Me?
Yoga can meet you where you are. You do not need to be flexible, experienced, strong, calm, or confident before beginning.
I’ve never done yoga before. Can I still come?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. Choose a beginner-friendly or slower-paced class, let the teacher know you are new, and work at your own pace.
Which class should I choose?
A gentle, beginner-friendly, restorative, or slower Hatha class is usually a comfortable place to begin. Our class descriptions and teacher profiles can help you choose.
What Should I Bring?
Bring yourself, comfortable clothing, and water. Mats and props are available at the studio.
What should I wear?
Classes are held indoors during the winter and outdoors during the summer when the temperature is above 15°C, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
Are mats and props available?
Yes. Mats and common yoga props are available to borrow.
Should I eat before class?
A light snack is usually fine, but avoid a heavy meal immediately before practice whenever possible.
Should I bring water?
Yes, especially for longer or more active classes.
Are there change rooms?
Basic changing space and washroom access are available. Arriving dressed for class is usually easiest.

Visiting the Studio
Shangrila Yoga is located at 111 Mount Pleasant Avenue, at the rear of the property.

Where do I park?
There is a large parking lot across the street that the studio has access to for its guests.
Is there bicycle parking?
Yes. Bicycle parking is available.
How early should I arrive?
The studio is open 30 minutes before class. Please try to arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins when you can.
What if I’m late?
Enter quietly and get yourself settled into class. These things happen.
What is the studio etiquette?
Silence your phone, respect personal space, avoid strong scents, and follow the teacher’s guidance while honouring your own limits.
Classes & Health
Classes vary in pace, intensity, and approach. You are encouraged to choose the practice that best supports your body.
What styles of yoga do you offer?
Offerings include Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Taoist Yoga, restorative and beginner-friendly practices, meditation, breathwork, Qi Gong, workshops, and community experiences.
Which classes are best for beginners?
Look for beginner-friendly, gentle, restorative, slower Hatha, or clearly labelled all-level classes.
Are classes heated?
Shangrila is a room-temperature studio during the winter. When the temperature is above 15°C, classes are held outdoors on our covered deck, and we practise with the weather.
Can I attend with an injury?
Speak with an appropriate healthcare professional when needed and tell the teacher before class. You are always welcome to modify, rest, or skip a pose.
What about pregnancy, limited mobility, or seniors?
Contact the studio or teacher before attending so we can help identify the most suitable class and any useful modifications.
Is yoga helpful for stress and anxiety?
Many people use yoga, breathwork, and mindfulness to support stress management. Shangrila also offers classes specifically centred on anxiety, nervous-system settling, and mindful movement.
Community
Shangrila is also home to community classes, independent offerings, workshops, training, and rental opportunities.
